Meteo France International - MFI

Meteo France International (MFI) is a subsidiary of Météo-France, the French National Meteorological Service.

The company was created in 2002, in a context of growing concern related to climate change and better awareness of its socio-economic impact. MFI’s main mission is to design and implement turnkey modernization projects for National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHS), bringing Météo-France’s solutions and expertise throughout the world. MFI intervenes all along the meteorological value chain, helping NMHS to achieve their fundamental goals: protecting people and supporting national economies.

MFI’s offer relies on two main pillars:

- A full range of innovating meteorological information systems developed in close collaboration with Météo-France’s experts for maximum relevance and efficiency

- An extensive panel of transversal services such as integration, consultancy, training, capacity building, change management, assistance to operational start, long-term technical support

MFI’s uniqueness lies in this combination of state-of-the-art technical solutions and multidisciplinary assistance and support services. It guarantees the effectiveness of investments made and the sustainability of the projects carried out.

MFI intervenes all over the world and has already implemented efficient meteorological solutions in 114 countries through more than 400 projects. As meteorological integrator, MFI has unique references in terms of turnkey modernization projects: Angola, Indonesia, India, Libya, Qatar, Egypt, Cambodia, etc. This activity represents over 70% of MFI’s average turnover, as the overall budget for such projects may reach several tens of millions Euros, over several years.

MFI also has emblematic references in terms of supplying innovating information systems: pan-African forecasting system PUMA (47 countries), aviation nowcasting system for ASECNA, the West African Air Navigation agency (17 countries), NATO’s forecasting system (VISME project), or the latest integrated decision-aid solution for the French Armed Forces (GEODE 4D project).

Over the years, all these ambitious projects have validated the relevance of MFI’s unique positioning. Today, MFI is acknowledged by major development partners (World Bank, bilateral financing agencies) as the ideal partner to achieve sustainable meteorological projects, in line with the Paris Agreement.
